REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Support Indigenous Peoples' Land ManagementIndigenous speaker and activist Winona LaDuke says that, "most indigenous ceremonies, if you look to their essence, are about the restoration of balance — they are a reaffirmation of our relationship to creation. That is our intent: to restore, and then to retain balance and honor our part in creation." Why is balance important to sustainability?

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Purchase a Carbon OffsetA round-trip flight from New York City to Los Angeles emits just over 1.5 tons of CO2—per person. That’s a lot of carbon! What can you do to reduce the number of flights you take per year?
Allison Yelvington 4/09/2021 11:42 AMOne of my big worries coming into a career in consulting was the amount of flying I would be doing. Aside from diet, I think flying is one of the largest contributors to individual carbon footprint. This pandemic year has had the silver lining of reducing flying, and allowed me to work from home. I flew only once in 2020 (when I moved to New York City). I hadn't flied that little since probably 2014 or 2015. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustry Find a Local Climate-Friendly SupermarketHow close is the nearest climate-friendly supermarket to your home? How could you encourage local supermarket to reduce or phase out their use of HFC refrigerants?
Allison Yelvington 4/01/2021 6:53 AMI wasn't able to tell from the map, which looks like it could use some more data. I thought perhaps the prevalence of local grocers and bodegas in New York City contributed to the lack of data near me, but I checked out Houston, my hometown, as well and also found it lacking. -
Allison Yelvington 4/01/2021 6:50 AMIt's the first day of the Earth Month EcoChallenge and I'm excited to get started! -
Allison Yelvington 3/19/2021 10:39 AMExcited to be participating in our Earth Month EcoChallenge as the New York Captain! I've been passionate about environmental issues for a long time (check out this letter I wrote to Santa about climate change as a child). Happy to bring this passion to Deloitte, and look forward to seeing everyone engage this month!
