REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityHad you ever heard of biomass technology before you took this challenge? What did you learn that surprised you? Share your new knowledge with your friends!
Eliana Villa 4/27/2021 12:29 PMI’ve heard of biomass technology and knew that it's a cleaner way to produce energy but I didn’t know about how it works and the more in detail stuff. What I learned that surprised me was that the biomass emits its own carbon that it's collected. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksMuch of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?
Eliana Villa 4/26/2021 6:36 AMStop buying from those palm oil and pulp paper plantations and raise awareness about what's going on in Indonesia and why peatlands are important. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksAs you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?
Eliana Villa 4/20/2021 11:26 AMI am now thinking about which companies are doing all the killing of trees and how I can stop buying from them. I guess trying to stop these big corporations from burning them down because if one person stops buying from them that's not going to do much. That they are organizations out there that plant responsibly and if good for the plant and supporting them is good. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksHow is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?
Eliana Villa 4/19/2021 10:13 AMI thought my diet was okay, I don’t eat meat 3 times a day and I don’t really eat eggs and dairy but I still eat more than I probably think. I can cause a positive impact on the world by eating more plant based foods and stop buying from big corporations so much.

REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Eliana Villa 4/16/2021 7:37 AMI haven't heard of silvopasture until now but now that I have I think we should have more of them. THe biggest advantage of them I think is that it will make the land and the livestock healthier and helps reduce the farms carbon footprint. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Eliana Villa 4/15/2021 6:36 AMNow I know that all the dates on food are usually safe so I can start buying off date products.
