REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryWhat are some more "R's" you could add to your daily practice to reduce your waste?
Samantha Thomas 4/19/2021 1:52 PMRESPOND. As we live together in an enclosed space ship, we must remember that singular actions are not enough to invoke change. We must respond to each other, the larger and smaller communities we live in and advocate for responsible stewardship of the planet. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Accelerating SolutionsWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
Samantha Thomas 4/19/2021 1:39 PMWow, so many things! I suppose I am most concerned about our forests. They are some of the most diverse and beautiful places on Earth (on land) and are absolutely crucial to every living things' existence on this planet. The attached picture shows one such place in the redwoods on Northern California. Locally, we need to do what we can to keep our forests healthy and our electricity infrastructure safe so that we can mitigate acre loss due to fires. Globally, we must combat deforestation and encourage reforestation by empowering NGOs with these goals, and importantly, by holding nations AND global corporations accountable for their role in environmental destruction. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Samantha Thomas 4/01/2021 12:31 PMSometimes when I buy stuff from the store, I don't even realize I am purchasing a bag until it is in my hand. I need to start bringing my own bag every time I buy something, even to the beauty store. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Climate ResilienceHave you ever had a significant experience in nature that altered your perspective or focus? If so, please describe it.
