Where I live in the Bay Area, I am near a lot of canals. Being near canals and bodies of water comes with a lot of greenery, trees, wildlife. I have enjoyed being able to take in the crisp air and the wind blowing. I have also enjoyed watching the wild life (birds-cranes, geese/jack rabbits, squirrels). There is not much change that I would change to make my walk enjoyable. I am thankful for living in the city I am in, and I get to enjoy my walks everyday.

Eating meat affects our bodies by causing diseases. It affects our plant by raising emissions, cutting down forests for farms/grazing, and climate change. I have been vegetarian, for almost 5 years now. The vegetarian diet has made me feel better overall, mentally and physically. It also makes me feel good that I am doing a part to decrease what it is doing to our plant. Here is a picture a plate of "carnitas" that I got from a local vegan restaurant. I always tell people, don't knock it before you try it!

Dependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these (or other) advantages inspire you the most?

Supporting local farmers! I go every weekend to my local farmers market to buy my veggies and fruits. It tastes so much better and makes me feel better that I am eating dependable fresh food. A bigger bonus is knowing that I am supporting my local farmers, who work hard to bring us the best produce!
