If we make taller instead of wider buildings so they are using more ground space and keep community gardens and the top of these buildings green, then it will help filter out C02 emissions.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

What is the most exciting solution you explored? Why is it exciting to you?

I think methane digesters are the coolest, because they take bio waste that would otherwise be thrown away, and turn it into energy.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity Learn More about Biomass
Had you ever heard of biomass technology before you took this challenge? What did you learn that surprised you? Share your new knowledge with your friends!

I have heard of renewable energy, not the term biomass technology. I think it is really neat how we are turning old living things into renewable energy, and using that instead of fossil fuels which are more harmful to the environment.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Sinks Research Peatlands
Much of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?

    Aleah Rowe's avatar
    Aleah Rowe 4/26/2021 10:10 AM
Reducing my use of palm oil if possible, and recycling paper, and other recyclable materials so I am using less paper.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Industry Bioplastics
What concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.

Locally water pollution concerns me the most because we have one of the nation's largest watersheds. Globally it is probably deforestation.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Sinks Forest-Friendly Foods 1
How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?

I currently don't eat red meat so for me eating more sustainable meats, and eating less of them can help with deforestation because corn is fed to those animals and corn to get planted the area needs to get deforistized.

    It is going pretty goood.

I have never heard of silvopasture before. I think the biggest benefit of it is probably soil health.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Family planning has a big impact on global warming, and educating can help save money. Having access to healthcare to help make decisions about having children.
