In order to reduce global warming, it is also necessary to reduce the contamination in the sea, since 70% of the oxygen on earth is produced via algae and phytoplankton.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Coastal, Ocean, and Engineered Sinks Building With Carbon Storing Waste Products
How feasible do you think it is for society to build with agricultural waste products?

    Christian Rojo's avatar
    Christian Rojo 4/09/2021 6:05 AM
Very feasible, because it reduces pollution and reduces the impact of our society on the environment, since things like pesticide waste being disposed of properly reduces the risk of environmental disasters.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Coastal, Ocean, and Engineered Sinks Learn about Biochar
Can biochar provide additional benefits besides sequestering carbon?

    Christian Rojo's avatar
    Christian Rojo 4/09/2021 6:03 AM
It also can be used as fertilizer to promote plant growth and helps plants retain soil nutrients for longer.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Climate Resilience Learn about 'Green Gentrification'
Cities and towns need to plan for climate change. How can your city or town make its climate action plans equitable and socially just?

They can distribute spaces in a way that they have dedicated green areas as a way of carbon offsets, and at the same time provide a recreative area for the people in their vicinity, also plant more trees in public spaces to both provide shade and at the same time better the aesthetic of the city.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Climate Resilience Express My Support For Equitable Biking Infrastructure
What do you like most about biking in your city? What would you like to improve?

    Christian Rojo's avatar
    Christian Rojo 4/09/2021 5:52 AM
In the city I live it I like the fact that in open spaces like parks and other green areas the regulations for cyclists allow an enjoyable sight and way of managing the designated space, but elsewhere it is very chaotic and many people do not respect biking lane, causing many accidents.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Climate Resilience Express My Support For Walkable Cities
How could better walking infrastructure make your city both more enjoyable and more equitable?

    Christian Rojo's avatar
    Christian Rojo 4/09/2021 5:49 AM
This case be done by reducing the waste management in the city I live in, by regulating the separation and distribution of solid waste, by recycling and disposing of trash in a proper fashion, planting more trees to provide shade during the summer, and by creating more green and open spaces.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Climate Resilience Research and Advocate for High-Speed Rail
What are the factors that influence your choice of transportation? These can include things like money, time, and convenience, as well as perceptions of danger or safety. What would need to change for you to regularly choose more climate-friendly options?

    Christian Rojo's avatar
    Christian Rojo 4/09/2021 5:47 AM
The factors that influence my transportation choices are money and safety, In my case, I always use public transportation but have always been more prone to use things like the subway or electric-powered means, I do not own a car and prefer to not use other methods due to the safety issues in the city I live in, and I feel that my choices of transportation are very climate-friendly, and I do use them on a regular basis.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Climate Resilience Restore Wetlands
How do wetlands differ from other ecosystems -- both in the services they offer and in your personal experience of them?

    Christian Rojo's avatar
    Christian Rojo 4/09/2021 5:43 AM
They are different in the sense that they are mainly flooded either seasonally or permanently. They contribute by providing food and habitat for fishes and their population, they improve water quality, and assist in shoreline erosion control, also they provide recreational opportunities for people, and personally, I do like them, because I used to go kayaking and they are really fun in that sense.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Climate Resilience Advocate for Wetland Protection
Why is it important to protect wetlands?

    Christian Rojo's avatar
    Christian Rojo 4/09/2021 5:38 AM
Because it protects the biodiversity of the planet and it also allows us to have better water quality, and they also help reduce pollution.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Climate Resilience Learn More about Biomass
Had you ever heard of biomass technology before you took this challenge? What did you learn that surprised you? Share your new knowledge with your friends!

No, I was surprised that although small scale there are actually ways of making biofuel via things like the use of log wood in manually operated boilers.
