I've been tracking along a waterfall up north of Thailand two years ago.  The tracks wasn't an easy on and I just had a knee surgery.  Although it requires a lot fo focus on my part to just climb, somehow I was still able to appreciate the silence and the sound of the waterfall slowly getting louder as I approach.  As I get to the top, I realized that I wasn't as tired as I thought I would be.  I gelt rejuvenated by the path I took.

Beyond carbon sequestration, what other benefits do forests offer you personally?

I think having green space provides emotional and mental benefits.  Living in the city all my life, I can really appreciate more green space from the forest for quiet and peace when things get stressful.  The clean air and the quiet gives time for inner reflection for both the mind and body.

Dependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these (or other) advantages inspire you the most?

Supporting local farmers is the most inspirting to me - as it helps support the ecosystem and local community.

What inspiration and wisdom can you gather from your family, faith, or community traditions that would help you in both communicating about and addressing our most pressing energy issues?

My father who is 85 years-old believe strongly now in renewable energy.  He thinks it's very important to sustain the plant for future generations.  He still drives and he very much wants a Tesla, but for now he'll setlle for a fully electric car.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation
What are the factors that influence your choice of transportation? These can include things like money, time, and convenience, as well as perceptions of danger or safety. What would need to change for you to regularly choose more climate-friendly options?

Safety, time and convenience are definitely the most important factors for me, personally.  I think even if they come with a slightly higher cost but are more climate-friendly, it is more than worth it.  Perhaps I am speaking from someone who can afford it.  But at this point, with the ice-cap melting causing the sea level to rise - I am starting to wonder if we need to find a point where affordibility and climate-friendly needs to come hand in hand.  As we can't afford to loose our planet and have half of the land sink under water.
