Transportation
Go by Bike

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Climate Resilience Support Businesses Owned by Women, BIPOC, or ImmigrantsGlobally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. What have you done in the past to support women-owned businesses? How can you better support communities by supporting women?
Molly Phillips 4/22/2021 11:33 AMGoogle has a new feature on the Maps where you can select to have shown to you all of the local WOB in the area. We can patronize those locations more, spread the awareness of WOB by telling friends/family about the businesses, and make conscious efforts to by goods from those locations over larger box-chains. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?
Molly Phillips 4/20/2021 6:58 AMBecause meat is very expensive to buy. The amount of money that goes into a single head of cattle is astronomical with the pasture land, the feed, the healthcare, the butchering, the movement of the meat from one place to the next in the overall supply chain, and then finally it arrives to the market. Overall the amount of space required could be used for other purposes. Meat industry is one of the larger polluter entities, which overall affects people negatively -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Sinks Support a Community GardenWhat are the multiple benefits of community gardens, including carbon sequestration? Why do these benefits matter to you?
Molly Phillips 4/20/2021 6:54 AMThey include, but aren't limited to providing sustainable nutrition to the community, reducing overall carbon footprint of obtaining foods, allowing soils to become diversified with different horticulture, and providing the community with productive green-space. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Mulch the Base of Trees and PlantsName some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?
Molly Phillips 4/19/2021 9:28 AM1. picking up trash, 2. planting local plants along drainage points in the yard, 3. don't allow motor oil on the driveway, 4. leaving drainage paths (at home and around town) unmowed -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Sinks Buy BambooAre bamboo alternatives readily available in your community? If not, what are other sustainable alternatives?
Molly Phillips 4/16/2021 8:21 AMYes, most places sell bamboo items. Otherwise, paper products would be a good alternative to plastics. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Learn the Truth About Expiration DatesHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Molly Phillips 4/16/2021 8:21 AMIt'll mean less food is thrown out at home because we'll get more time to use it before it actually spoils. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Eat MindfullyMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Zero-waste CookingIn North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level.
