Sometimes protecting nature requires feeling connected to nature. I will invest 45 minutes in exploring and appreciating a natural area in my region, whether a forest, wetland, coastal area, or somewhere else.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseDependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these (or other) advantages inspire you the most?
Grant Peters 4/20/2021 6:20 AMReducing dependency on external sources is fundamental for me. I understand the appeal of a global economy but I don't think it's practical. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksWhat are the multiple benefits of community gardens, including carbon sequestration? Why do these benefits matter to you?
Grant Peters 4/14/2021 7:04 AMGardening is exercise, social interaction, appreciation for nature, nutritional, and much more. -
Grant Peters 4/08/2021 8:48 AMWelcome to our new team members! Never too late to start! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationHow does using human-powered transportation make you feel compared to using other methods of transportation?
Grant Peters 4/08/2021 8:46 AMI am more connected with my surroundings, and I am happier when I travel using my own power. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationHow can you ensure that your virtual meetings honor your values and your company's culture?
Grant Peters 4/06/2021 10:47 AMWe have been pushing for this for some time, especially multi-disciplinary meetings where each participant only needs a few minutes. Unfortunately, I don't think the recent wave of virtual meetings has improved their overall efficiency (except the travelling of course). -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildingsHow are environmental issues like black carbon and other emissions from cooking fires or rudimentary cookstoves also human health and social justice issues? Why do these issues matter to you?
Grant Peters 4/06/2021 10:46 AMI am always amazed at the overlap between environmental action and social justice. What's good for the planet is usually good for the people! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Climate ResilienceHave you ever had a significant experience in nature that altered your perspective or focus? If so, please describe it.
Grant Peters 4/06/2021 10:45 AMI got lost in the woods for several hours at 13 with a friend and a dog while camping. The vastness of nature was astounding and frightening. -
Grant Peters 4/06/2021 5:41 AMI just sent an email out, hoping everyone can check-in on a regular basis. This helps remind us of the challenges we've accepted, and improves our point Toal as well - we're trying to beat EcoCaledon!-
Climate Action in Dufferin 4/06/2021 10:15 AMAbsolutely, Grant! Our collective actions are starting to add up and I am excited to see us continue to make impact this month.
Quick tip: Completing the Reflection Question associated with each of our eco-actions is great for: a) understanding the value that eco-actions have within our own lives and b) adding to that point total (each reflection question earns the team 15 points!)
