  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Use Muscle Power
How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?

    Singh Preet's avatar
    Singh Preet 4/28/2021 5:07 PM
I have invested in electric vehicle and while I use it as my transportation choice, I have motivated many people in my community to invest in electric vehicle.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Use Public Transit
How has your access to various kinds of transportation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?

    Singh Preet's avatar
    Singh Preet 4/28/2021 5:04 PM
I have travelled in almost all types of available transportation means. And I feel that we as human have been relying a lot on personal automobiles for most of the time. I strongly feel that we can make good choices by either carpooling or invest in electric vehicles which can reduce pollution and also reduce the release of carbon content in the environment.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Purchase a Carbon Offset
A round-trip flight from New York City to Los Angeles emits just over 1.5 tons of CO2—per person. That’s a lot of carbon! What can you do to reduce the number of flights you take per year?

    Singh Preet's avatar
    Singh Preet 4/28/2021 5:01 PM
If it is work related then I will try to limit my flights and make it a habit to do virtual meetings wherever possible.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transportation Research and Consider Switching to a Hybrid or Electric Vehicle
Reducing (or eliminating) exhaust emissions and improving public health are two benefits of green vehicles. What other motivators inspire you to consider switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle?

    Singh Preet's avatar
    Singh Preet 4/28/2021 5:00 PM
Apart from exhaust emissions, other motivating pointers that inspire me to consider switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle is the technology used in these cars. It is so amazing how a battery power can be leveraged to drive wheels and simultaneously perform other functions like stereo, air conditioning etc.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Try Carpooling
List some of the places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?

    Singh Preet's avatar
    Singh Preet 4/28/2021 4:58 PM
Some of the places where I visit often are Grocery stores. Yes, me and my neighbor have collectively agreed to drive to grocery stores together once a month.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transportation Go for a Daily Walk
What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

    Singh Preet's avatar
    Singh Preet 4/28/2021 4:56 PM
During my daily walks, I have noticed how the local city has invested a lot considering the local public who dont like to drive cars and use roads either for biking or walking as commuting. I have always enjoyed the greenery and different trees planted for shades. Some infrastructure changes like planting fruit trees alongside the sidewalk could add visual appeal to the landscape as well as learning about the fruit will make my walks more enjoyable.

What did you find out? What is the most interesting fact you learned?

    Singh Preet's avatar
    Singh Preet 4/28/2021 4:50 PM
Some of the alternate ways I researched are:
    1. Green Highways Partnership
    2. Pedestrian Bridges
    3. Greenways
    4. Clean Subways

Most interesting fact that I learnt was related to how Construction materials matter. Even in cases when building materials can't be recycled and reused, there are options that are far more sustainable than what was used in the past. For instance, so-called permeable pavers are a big benefit when it comes to managing rain and storm water runoff in such a way that it returns underground or collects in pools where it can be reused instead of running off and being lost or polluting watersheds.
