REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityGeothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?
Twyla Norby 4/29/2021 5:39 PMThe most reasonable would be governmental investment, and very rich people could help a lot but they probably wouldn't. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?
Twyla Norby 4/28/2021 5:09 PMgoing off of sustainable energy and all helping to provide for each other. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityHad you ever heard of biomass technology before you took this challenge? What did you learn that surprised you? Share your new knowledge with your friends!
Twyla Norby 4/27/2021 4:15 PMI had heard of it, but briefly and it was interesting to learn about it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Twyla Norby 4/19/2021 6:42 PMNo, i hadn't heard of it, and i think the biggest benefit is the livestock living with the ecosystem as opposed to people trashing it to grow them. It also reduces carbon emissions. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksHow is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?
Twyla Norby 4/19/2021 6:08 PMI think that i can work to be plant based and try to source ethical food. But also, putting the brunt of this on a bunch of high school kids instead of pushing large corporations for change is counter productive, and takes the attention off them. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and EducationWhat are some of the barriers that exist to women's equal participation and/or representation in your community?
Twyla Norby 4/13/2021 6:50 AMbarriers are misogyny effected individuals not having fair access to things like jobs and education, making the ways they can earn money and live their lives much less safe.
