Lori Nitchals 4/30/2021 7:00 AMI had great fun researching and trying out ‘No Waste’ packaged products. Tooth powder, shampoo and conditioner bars, deodorant bar, sunscreen in a tin, body lotion bar, bamboo tp, shaving soap bar, laundry detergent strips, plastic free floss, band aids, dog toys, dog treats, dish soap bar... -
Lori Nitchals 4/29/2021 7:55 AMTried 2 brands of shampoo bars. J R Ligget’s moisturizing shampoo bar and HiBar moisturizing shampoo and conditioner bars. Both are way too drying for my fragile curls. Still searching for a very moisturizing shampoo bar. If I cannot find one, I will try Plein brand liquid shampoo and conditioner which comes in aluminum bottles. https://earthhero.com/products/beauty-care/plaine-products-plaine-products-refillable-unscented-vegan-shampoo-conditioner-16oz/

Lori Nitchals 4/27/2021 7:04 AMMy latest fun project is finding the best plastic free packaging bamboo toilet paper. Checking out Who Gives a Crap, Go better way, and Cloud Paper.
A friend gave me a roll of Caboo bamboo tp, which is wrapped in plastic and found at Costco. Besides the wasteful plastic packaging, it is very thin and rough.-
Jana Fischback 4/27/2021 11:55 AMI just ordered from Who Gives a Crap for the first time! I'm just a tiny bit nervous about our septic system but hopefully it does ok!

Lori Nitchals 4/23/2021 8:35 AMBeing a hiker, I have lots of synthetic fleece, shirts, and pants. Discovering how many micro fibers are being released when I wash them, caused me to research ways to reduce that. I found Guppyfriend on the Earthhero.com site, and just received it.
“Stop microfiber pollution at the source with the Guppyfriend Microwaste Washing Bag! According to a study from UCSB, a city the size of Berlin releases a wash-related volume of microfibers equivalent to 500,000 plastic bags... every single day. These plastic fibers from synthetic textiles are consumed by sea life, where they cause countless health problems that ultimately work their way up the food chain. The solution? Stop microfibers while you wash AND protect your clothes from shedding. The Guppyfriend is made from untreated polyamide 6.6, which captures microfibers in the washing machine so you can dispose of them properly. Plus, Guppyfriend donates profits to STOP! Micro Waste and the STOP! Plastic Academy non-profits to raise awareness about microplastic pollution and to educate students, adults, and industry partners about the problem. To use: Put synthetic textiles into the Guppyfriend. Do not overfill. Separate colors. Close the Guppyfriend and wash as usual. Take out wet textiles after washing. Remove the released microfibers from the upper corners inside of the Guppyfriend and dispose of properly. Want other ways to reduce microfiber pollution?
