REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings Plan to InsulateWhat are some of the benefits of making your home more energy efficient?
Maggie McCoy 4/09/2021 8:29 AMWe live in a house built in 1906, so it has a lot of "charm" but is very leaky when it comes to energy. We had an energy audit done in late 2019, but were hesitant to sink money into improvements once the pandemic hit. I think being at home for a year has definitely made me more aware of how insulation can make a huge difference in the comfort and cost in our home. We also use natural gas for our furnace so I know being more energy efficient means that we will need less fossil fuel to heat our home. We just set out a budget last night to improve the insulation in our home! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Calculate My Carbon FootprintWhat stood out to you most about your carbon footprint? What surprised you or sparked curiosity? Where can you take most immediate action?
Maggie McCoy 4/07/2021 9:16 AMI was happy to see that our household is a little bit better than average when it comes to our carbon footprint. We have been wanting to buy a hybrid vehicle, but I saw in the steps afterwards that an electric vehicle has a much larger impact on carbon footprint than a hybrid. Our biggest concern is that if we use it for road trips, there is not enough electric infrastructure to charge the vehicle. I guess this leads me to more research on electric vehicles!
