REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustry Reduce Single-Use DisposablesWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Veronica Martinez 4/22/2021 12:05 PMChoosing reusable containers, bags, bottles, etc on a daily basis is the least I can do to better my planet. However I do use single packaged wet naps often, they’re very convenient when you’re out and can’t get to a sink. I haven’t thought about an alternative, hand sanitizer disinfects but doesn’t wipe your hands clean. If you guys have a substitute please let me know! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Sinks Plant TreesHow is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?
Veronica Martinez 4/22/2021 11:32 AMPhysically, cleaner air that your breathing in. Mentally, it’s satisfying knowing that you’re bettering your environment by planting a tree. Spiritually, the time and process of planting/gardening is enjoyable & relaxing for me, my time to destress. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Accelerating Solutions Support Local Food SystemsDependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these (or other) advantages inspire you the most?
Veronica Martinez 4/13/2021 12:33 PMSupporting local farmers encourages me to source my fruits and veggies locally. Often their products are even organic, they just can’t pay the fee to label it as so. Galt flee market on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings offers many fresh options! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Accelerating Solutions Advocate for Solar InstallationHow does advocating for rooftop solar connect to your values? How might you be able to get others involved in advocating for the shift to clean energy?
Veronica Martinez 4/13/2021 2:12 AMSolar saves you $$ on your electric bills but the real saving needs to be in your usage! Besides turning off the lights when I'm not in the room, I constantly try to stay busy outdoors or tending to pets or something that steers me away from electronic entertainment. -
Veronica Martinez 4/13/2021 1:03 AMIn 2015, LA Officials dumped 96 million black plastic balls into the city’s Reservior to shade the water, reducing evaporation by 90% & saving 300 million gallons/yr. That’s a lot of balls! -
