Buildings
Upgrade My Windows
Insulation
I will upgrade the windows or weatherstripping in my home or office to reduce air leaks and save on energy costs.
Buildings
Cold and Clean
When possible, wash clothes in cold water rather than hot to save energy. For reduced drying time and more savings, you can also try reusable dryer balls instead of dryer sheets.
Buildings
Make saving energy a breeze
When possible, let the breeze cool your home for you by leaving windows and doors open. Just remember to turn off the A/C first so it's not working harder. You can leave ceiling fans on too if you need to, as they still require less energy than the air conditioner does to cool your entire home.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Climate ResilienceHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Alyssa Lilly 4/19/2021 10:27 AMI hadn't heard of it before but I think the biggest advantage of silvopasture is that it can turn pastures into wildlife corridors for certain species. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildingsHow does improving your home's (or office's) energy efficiency help you better live out your values?
Alyssa Lilly 4/14/2021 11:15 AMI put in a work order to have our weatherstripping repaired for a better seal. Improving my home's efficiency helps save energy and money. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Accelerating SolutionsGlobally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. What have you done in the past to support women-owned businesses? How can you better support communities by supporting women?
Alyssa Lilly 4/09/2021 10:14 PMI buy from small businesses more often. the ones I come across on Etsy, Twitter, and Tiktok are usually ran by women. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?
Alyssa Lilly 4/02/2021 10:48 AMThe changes would have to be drastic. People would really have to be committed to implementing sustainable practices in their own homes, over time, and they'd also need to be given the resources to easily do so. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityWhat stood out to you most about your carbon footprint? What surprised you or sparked curiosity? Where can you take most immediate action?
Alyssa Lilly 4/01/2021 10:21 PMOur food consumption was the only category ranked worse than average but lowkey I'm not surprised because we spend too much money on ordering food and find it hard to summon the energy to cook most days. Basically I need to plan out meals that barely require any effort.
