  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Industry Reduce Single-Use Disposables
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

    Laurie Leary's avatar
    Laurie Leary 4/16/2021 7:13 PM
I have greatly reduced the amount of single-use items in my daily life. I sewed cloth napkins and cloth paper towels. I haven't missed the paper products. We sometimes will use bottled water for ease, or when having guests - this could be substituted with plastic cups (and those could be reused). I also use plastic bags for lunches, I plan to look into reusable bags for lunches/snacks to further reduce plastic waste.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Industry Launch a Recycling Program
How can you take your commitment to sustainable living beyond yourself? How can you, personally, work toward broader change?

    Laurie Leary's avatar

I help students at the school I teach at recycle each week. Students are assigned to different parts of the building, they collect the bins and empty them. Through this, they also encourage other students to recycle and help younger students know what they can and cannot recycle.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Conduct Virtual Meetings
How can you ensure that your virtual meetings honor your values and your company's culture?

    Laurie Leary's avatar
    Laurie Leary 4/08/2021 5:38 PM
At the start of each meeting, we share our norms and then spend the next few minutes "bragging on our buddy" and sharing ways that others have been helpful and uplifting at work.
