REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Accelerating SolutionsWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
Rene Kaza 4/18/2021 6:47 PMThe fact that this shortsighted mindset of everything in the name of money and growth in terms of industry, economy and technology seem to trump sustainability which matters the most because none of the aforementioned things will matter if we don't have a healthy planet to live on. -
Rene Kaza 4/13/2021 6:28 AMMy month started slow but it's since picked up and I'm truly enjoying learning about so many different aspects to how we can be more mindful and helpful to our planet. Knowing there's so many different things that you can do individually/on a local level to improve the environment feels very empowering whereas when you watch a movie like "Seaspiracy" or "An Inconvenient Truth", sometimes I think we feel more helpless than we do empowered. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Climate ResilienceHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Rene Kaza 4/13/2021 6:25 AMI hadn't heard it described as Silvopasture but I have seen the movie, the Biggest Little Farm and realized that the movies concepts on creating a self-sustaining/healthy land to farm on is exactly what Silvopasture is.
I see the biggest advantage of it to be the diversity you're creating for yourself in what you have available on your land and thus creating a better safety net. Furthermore, it just seems easier on your land and allows all pieces working together and in symbiosis. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCoastal, Ocean, and Engineered SinksMany states and countries have advisories on eating fish. Find out what is advised for your region. Do you think your diet choices fall within these guidelines? What steps do you need to take to make sure that they do?
Rene Kaza 4/13/2021 6:21 AMThey actually do for the most part which makes me feel good about what I'm doing currently with my diet. I remember seeing this guid actually several years ago when visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium which was my first foray into understanding sustainability and health related to seafood. Happy to have a refresher and know what the current state of affairs are
