What concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.

What I am concerned about is the single use plastic industry and why hasn't that been reduced to bare necessity yet? I have a feeling it is because of political agendas from big oil companies. I pledge to reduce my waste by buying better foods, bringing reusable forms of packaging, reducing online shopping and participating in reusable alternatives in all sectors of my life.

An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. How would you rather use this money?

I would rather use this money to get tattoos and donate the rest to carbon and pollution solutions. I am getting better about reducing my food waste, another important factor that I found after cooking for myself at home more and more now. Since I have more control over my food, I am eating more rational portion sizes, reducing plastic by buying better whole foods for me and composting my waste such as the roots of vegetables that I cut or collecting my eggshells for my worm.

What stood out to me was that taking care of my car and driving slower actually does help the planet. Peaceful driving equals a peaceful planet! - Also by reducing snacking, I am reducing my plastic waste by way of avoiding storage containers !

Many states and countries have advisories on eating fish. Find out what is advised for your region. Do you think your diet choices fall within these guidelines? What steps do you need to take to make sure that they do?

As someone who is  from the region historically referred to as the Mother Lode in California's Sierra Nevada region, I am familiar with the lasting environmental impact of the Gold rush. Mercury advisors from the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment warns  children and women of childbearing age to reduce the amount of fish I consume for the safety of my health/ future lineage. I believe my diet falls within recommend parameters. When buying fish, try to asses important factors - where it was raised - ethical standards - chemical warnings on packaging - etc.
