It is going great! I am learning many ways that I could help protect the environment.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Action Track: Climate Resilience
Globally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. What have you done in the past to support women-owned businesses? How can you better support communities by supporting women?

    Adela Gonzalez's avatar
    Adela Gonzalez 4/18/2021 10:57 PM
In the past, I have helped promote women-owned businesses through social media in hopes of them receiving new clientele.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Action Track: Accelerating Solutions
What concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.

    Adela Gonzalez's avatar
    Adela Gonzalez 4/11/2021 8:26 PM
My biggest concern is the climate crisis (sea level rise, extreme heat, water pollution).
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?

    Adela Gonzalez's avatar
    Adela Gonzalez 4/11/2021 8:22 PM
Eating in smaller portions has many benefits, such as stabilizing blood sugar levels.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity
Your utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your ZIP code, region, and/or state. What other steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?

    Adela Gonzalez's avatar
    Adela Gonzalez 4/06/2021 5:51 PM
My household spends about $20 a month on electricity, meaning that we don't overuse it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
In North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for utilizing every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable, including the skins, tops, and stalks during your next meal prep?

    Adela Gonzalez's avatar
    Adela Gonzalez 4/06/2021 5:49 PM
I could boil the leftover skins, tops, and stalks to create a delicious veggie broth.

I join this Earth Month Eco challenge because I want to educate myself on ways I could help the environment.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. How would you rather use this money?

    Adela Gonzalez's avatar
    Adela Gonzalez 4/06/2021 5:44 PM
Another way I would spend $1,500 is by investing it into the stock market.
