    Action Track: Climate Resilience
Have you ever had a significant experience in nature that altered your perspective or focus? If so, please describe it.

One of my favorite nature memories of all time is snorkeling off St. John on our honeymoon.  It was my first time snorkeling and I was blown away by the brilliant colors and varieties of fish and other sea life.  Seeing a sea turtle up close was magical.  I am heartbroken about the dying of reefs all over the world due to climate change.

Welcome, Krista and Carolyn!  I hope you'll have some fun with this!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation
A round-trip flight from New York City to Los Angeles emits just over 1.5 tons of CO2—per person. That’s a lot of carbon! What can you do to reduce the number of flights you take per year?

It's easy to fly less during a pandemic!  But we will be flying to St. Louis for Alex's delayed graduation ceremony in May, and I feel better after buying carbon offsets that go toward various carbon capture projects in the U.S.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity
Geothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?

I will look for opportunities to support geothermal.  I must say I enjoyed reading about the tradition of public (hot) pools in Iceland - seems to help them be some of the world's happiest people!
