People in richer countries eat more meat than in other places because meat is more readily available, more convenient (to-go/fast-food), more affordable (obviously), and because corporations can afford to market more profitable products. A diet with too much meat/dairy can produce vitamin deficiencies and increase risk for certain health problems. An over-abundance of livestock creates increased strain on the planet and leads to competition for resources among people/nations.
