REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationHow does advocating for green vehicles in your community connect to your values? How might you be able to get others involved in advocating for the shift to fuel-efficient vehicles?
cam follas 4/09/2021 11:50 AMI just bought a EV as it is one of the biggest sources of personal climate solutions. It's not only for me but I am investing in the future and voting with my dollar for no more gas cars. Once you go EV its so hard to look at a gas car again -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksAre bamboo alternatives readily available in your community? If not, what are other sustainable alternatives?
cam follas 4/09/2021 11:48 AMPortland is a fantastic place for renewable options. Also key is avoiding heavily packaged items and buying local vs Amazon (and all the packaging waste it creates) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryWhat did you learn about the climate impact of refrigerants? How do supermarkets contribute to this impact?
cam follas 4/09/2021 11:47 AMListen to How to Save a Planet, they did a fantastic job of reviewing industrial refrigerants. There is even a website that shows which of the stores you shop at and if they are using harmful chemicals. Vote with where you spend your dollar! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
cam follas 4/09/2021 11:46 AMI have been on a huge anti-plastic kick every since I watched The History of Plastics. I bring my own silverware to work, pack my own lunch to avoid the plastic cutlery. I have my own coffee mug and use reusable bags at the shopping market. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseName some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?
cam follas 4/09/2021 11:44 AMDeforestation causes accelerated evaporation of our water ways and destroys habitat for the ecosystem within and around it. By restoring these systems to how they were 1000's of years ago we can improve the quality of water we have -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseClean air, clean water and healthy food are just three reasons to care about regenerative agriculture. What are some other reasons? How could/does regenerative agriculture positively impact you and your community?
cam follas 4/09/2021 11:43 AMLove the circle of life in regenerative agriculture. Nature is about balance and humans are very good at quickly upsetting that balance and throwing everything off. It's interesting that the more technology and complex as a civilization we get, the more we need to return to the basics -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Climate ResilienceHow is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?
cam follas 4/09/2021 11:41 AMPlanted a western red cedar tree in my front yard. Very fulfilling to watch it take root and grow -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Accelerating SolutionsDependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these (or other) advantages inspire you the most?
cam follas 4/09/2021 11:40 AMShopping local! Farmers market season coming soon, get a CSA or meat from regenerative farmers! -
