REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildingsCities and towns need to plan for climate change. How can your city or town make its climate action plans equitable and socially just?
Breaundra Edgerton 5/03/2021 6:04 AMI feel like we need to start community clean-ups and not just talk about trying to better Asheville. We need petitions and get-togethers to talk about what we are going to do. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityGeothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?
Breaundra Edgerton 4/29/2021 8:39 AMI agree with what Ms. Duffer was saying today in a class basically that the rich keep getting richer and greedy and dont put their money toward good use. The middle class and below need money it could benefit us and the people around us. If Biden is trying to put that money to good use and actually worried about the world and clean water and climate change. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
Breaundra Edgerton 4/22/2021 6:45 AMLocally I think we are doing good but we could do better. Globally we need lots of work from testing on animals to landfills and people not have clean water or air. We have options and alternatives but people dont want to take them. Some people just dont care about the world like others. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksAs you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?
Breaundra Edgerton 4/20/2021 7:17 AMIt shows how much I really dont know about what is going on in the world around me. It makes me want to turn my life around, I didn’t know how much my actions were harming my environment and the earth. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksHow is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?
Breaundra Edgerton 4/19/2021 7:30 AMMy diet is impacting deforestation a lot. I will change it by going for plant-based foods and trying lactose-free foods. I will also try eating cleaner and replace my non-healthy foods with good healthy alternatives. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Breaundra Edgerton 4/16/2021 7:49 AMI guess now I am going to use my nose and eyes to smell and see if food is expired or spoiled. I have wasted so much food looking at these dates. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and EducationWhat are some of the barriers that exist to women's equal participation and/or representation in your community?
Breaundra Edgerton 4/16/2021 7:48 AMIn my community, I dont really know but I’m guessing unequal pay. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and EducationWhat did you learn about the need for family planning? How do the needs of different people in different places compare to each other?
Breaundra Edgerton 4/16/2021 7:47 AMDue to family planning birth control rates when up and teen pregnancy went down. Family planning helps so many people all over the world and it is important that women have a choice and get the help that they need. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Breaundra Edgerton 4/16/2021 7:43 AMNo not at all, but I think I have heard the word before. Overall it is a huge advantage for livestock, land, and farmers. So I dont really think there is one huge advantage.
