REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Go for a Daily WalkWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Brittany Clarke 4/21/2021 1:36 PMI have been inviting my mom on walks with me and it allows us to have distraction free time together. It is really enjoyable and something I look forward to. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Smaller PortionsWhile dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?
Brittany Clarke 4/21/2021 1:34 PMSmaller portions can help you be mindful with how full you are. Ultimately it can reduce your caloric intake and help with weight control. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Eat MindfullyMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?
Brittany Clarke 4/21/2021 1:32 PMMy experience has changed mainly by me recognizing how much I'm eating. Often times when I eat with the TV on, I finish my entire meal before I realize it. Mindful eating helps me with portion control and enjoying the food. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Climate Resilience Learn about 'Green Gentrification'Cities and towns need to plan for climate change. How can your city or town make its climate action plans equitable and socially just?
Brittany Clarke 4/08/2021 9:53 AMAlthough downtown Austin has been doing this, the suburbs can starting adding more electric car charging stations. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Education Support Businesses Owned by Women, BIPOC, or ImmigrantsGlobally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. What have you done in the past to support women-owned businesses? How can you better support communities by supporting women?
Brittany Clarke 4/08/2021 9:52 AMTypically when I purchase clothing, I try to make sure that it is from a women or black owned business. One trick that helps is on Amazon, you can pick what type of company you want to buy from. In Amazon you can go to the "Meet the Business Owners" page and select any option including "Woman-owned".-
Constance Fullerton 4/12/2021 1:17 PMI didn't know that -- great share on Meet the Business Owners. -
Lisa Bartek 4/08/2021 10:56 AMThats a great idea! I never even thought about filtering it. Im going to try that next time I buy something! Thanks for the tip!

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?
Brittany Clarke 4/08/2021 9:43 AMMeat is typically more expensive because of the resources it takes to produce and process the animal. Animals consume an extremely large amount of food and water, which drives up the price. The cattle industry alone emits more CO2 than cars. This has a negative impact on humans, other animals and just the planet as a whole. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Support Local Food SystemsDependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these (or other) advantages inspire you the most?
Brittany Clarke 4/08/2021 9:38 AMI like supporting my local community by buying from vendors from my area. I would prefer to buy from someone in Austin versus a national distributor.
