Shopping from a Vegan or Cruelty Free brand is better because Cruelty-Free products are generally healthier. When you opt for products not tested on animals, you're also ditching the bad chemicals like parabens, sulfates, and synthetic dyes. Keisha Armstrong 4/30/2021 3:03 PMI enjoyed the Earth Month EcoChallenge. It has stretched me and challenged me to do better and be more intentional on all aspects of how I live and what I am contributing to making the world a better place - more clean, more sustainable and more beautiful for the generations to come. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildingsWhy is taking action on climate change important to you? Why do you care?
Keisha Armstrong 4/30/2021 3:02 PMTaking action on climate change is important to me for the sake of our future generations. They deserve a beautiful world to grow up in and explore; protected from disaster and disease and able to learn about all the wonders of the world. None of us should have to endure extreme heat / cold and we shouldn't have to worry about large land masses disappearing. Plus, it feels good to give back. There is fulfillment in planting life back into the earth and being mindful about what I use and how it impacts the earth. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationHow can you ensure that your virtual meetings honor your values and your company's culture?
Keisha Armstrong 4/29/2021 1:13 PMOffice Depot holds great pride in our 5C culture. While working remote we encourage implementation of the 5C’s in many ways from virtual celebrations (CARING), using new innovations while presenting for better engagement (CREATIVITY) and using break out rooms also when holding virtual coffee chats, among other cool developments. It’s been great to have the connection to our leaders for events such as round table discussions where we can see them, ask questions and hear them out on issues that matter to the company and OD associates (COMMITMENT). It’s a great way to network and meet different people not just from our Florida locations but across the US. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildingsCities and towns need to plan for climate change. How can your city or town make its climate action plans equitable and socially just?
Keisha Armstrong 4/26/2021 7:40 PMSome climate action plans I found which are equitable and socially just are:- A healthy climate and air quality for all
- Access to reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity, water, and transportation
- An inclusive, just, and pollution-free energy economy with high- quality jobs
- Safe, healthy communities and infrastructure
In Port Saint Lucie they are hosting info sessions that teach residents the fundamentals of climate science and about locally documented impacts. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildingsHow does city planning and design relate to equity and climate change?
Keisha Armstrong 4/25/2021 5:16 PMSocial Equity according to the American Planning Association site is defined as “the active commitment to fairness, justice, and equality in the formulation of public policy, distribution of public services, implementation of public policy, and management of all institutions serving the public directly of by contract.”
This relates to equity and climate change because advocating for policies that support equity in all aspects of planning at local, state, and federal levels allows for greater access to healthier food, modern housing, safer/cleaner neighborhoods, closer to better schools and more community resources.
This can be a powerful tool for farmland, open space and habitat preservation.
This also creates economic opportunity while preserving agricultural-based economies, and cultural and natural resources, thereby adding value to the community.
