Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health and Education Fund Family Planning
When family planning focuses on healthcare provision and meeting the expressed needs of women, it results in empowerment, equality, and well-being, and the benefits to the planet are side effects. Why is family planning an important civil rights consideration?

Family planning is a FAMILY consideration and should not be determined or restricted by outside entities hoping to put constraints or perimeters on this decision.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
How does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?

    Alissa Aragon's avatar
    Alissa Aragon 4/29/2021 8:34 AM
This helps me to evaluate my foods differently and to not throw something away if the "best by" date has passed.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Go by Bike
How does using human-powered transportation make you feel compared to using other methods of transportation?

I LOVE riding my bike! I wish I lived in a part of town that had more around that we could ride our bikes to. My children have also enjoyed riding their bikes each day to get exercise.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transportation Go for a Daily Walk
What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

    Alissa Aragon's avatar
    Alissa Aragon 4/09/2021 2:48 PM
I notice people in my neighborhood, changes to peoples homes, and how my mood changes from just being outside. I enjoy having the time to walk my dog each day and listen to podcasts that I miss due to my commute being nonexistent.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Industry Recycle Everything I Can
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

    Alissa Aragon's avatar
    Alissa Aragon 4/09/2021 2:47 PM
I feel that I grew up in an area where recycling was an inherent part of our daily lives. I need to pass that same habit into my families life as well. Through the shelter in place we have done more repairing and reducing in our lives just from being stagnant. I look forward to practicing refusing and repurposing and learning how to implement those practices.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Industry Go Paperless
What do you want to prioritize over material 'stuff' in your own life?

    Alissa Aragon's avatar
    Alissa Aragon 4/09/2021 2:45 PM
Spending quality time with people and with myself.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Smaller Portions
While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?

    Alissa Aragon's avatar
    Alissa Aragon 4/09/2021 2:44 PM
Decreasing wasted food, decreasing calories, and not mindless overeating.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Industry Practice the 5 R's
What are some more "R's" you could add to your daily practice to reduce your waste?

    Alissa Aragon's avatar
    Alissa Aragon 4/09/2021 2:43 PM
Repurpose! I look forward to challenging myself to repurpose items rather than buying new and contributing to consumerism as a whole.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Eat Mindfully
Mindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?

    Alissa Aragon's avatar
    Alissa Aragon 4/09/2021 2:41 PM
I have time to calm my mind and focus on one thing which is very rare.
