    Fun fact, I own a small construction business with my husband.  We often try to partner with other women owned businesses.  I am redoing my kitchen, and we picked a woman owned business as our partner.

    Well, the good news is I'm better in a lot of categories, but apparently my electricity usage is pretty crappy.  Getting solar to be able to use electric from solar panels would really reduce my footprint.

    This weekend I had a rooftop solar company come to my house and see what could be done to add solar to help reduce my energy bill.  Luckily, my roof is set up in the optimal position (south facing) but unfortunately, my HOA does not allow solar yet.  I've put an agenda item for the next HOA meeting to discuss allowing of solar.

    This is one of my favorite sustainable building trends - green roofs.  They are awesome.  They save on heating and cooling costs, they work in almost any environment because you can use whatever is naturally available in the location the house is in, you can easily hide solar panels, and they are AMAZING for storm water...

    One of my favorite bamboo alternatives is whogivesacrap.com  When you think about what you use the most on a daily basis, it's TP and paper towels - hands down.  Who gives a crap is a bamboo alternative that is shipped to you for both of these, and as a bonus, they donate 50% of their profits to help build toilets in areas which need...
