April 30 at 6:05 AMCovid 19 forced us to start using virtual meetings for everything. Obviously, we're pretty much hit virtual burnout but my department has found that using Zoom allows us better access to viewing spreadsheets and data than gathering in a conference room. So we're going to stick to virtual for a lot of our meetings.

April 30 at 6:02 AMThis year my big goal has been to reduce consumption. It's amazing what one can learn to do without.

April 30 at 5:58 AMI'm old enough to have lived when household items were actually repaired. Chairs and davenports were reupholstered instead of replaced, or at least a slip cover could be thrown over it. TVs and radios could be repaired. Even some clothing issues could be fixed. That was the mentality. Then came the age of planned obsolescence where everything...

April 29 at 9:43 AMI live in the middle of the country so my local fish choices are limited. And, since there's rarely just one issue involved, for health reasons, I don't want to eat certain types of fish and definitely not genetically modified so that pretty much leaves out all farmed fish. April 8 at 12:23 PMI am grateful my neighborhood has sidewalks and a nice park within walking distance of my house. I am looking to purchase a house and I looked at one in a neighborhood with no sidewalks. I would have to walk in the street with my dogs. :(

I am reducing my plastic waste by using glass containers and silicone bags. I joined a Zero Waste and Buy Nothing groups on Facebook so I could gift things I don't use - and maybe find something...

April 5 at 6:12 AMI didn't know that most of the energy obtained from biomass is through burning - wood and crop byproducts. I thought capturing gas through fermentation of crop byproducts is an interesting way to create energy.
-
April 5 at 6:11 AMThere is always lots of trash blowing around our neighborhood. I help here and there by picking up some trash, but a more coordinated effort could get rid of a majority of the trash.

April 3 at 6:18 PMPeople were evacuated today in Piney Point, Florida due to the imminent failure of a phosphate plant wastewater pond that could flood the area with radioactive water. It's not bad enough that people are contaminated by the fertilizer in and on their food, now they are threatened by the waste by-products as...
